Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 August 2026

Web Design Lab (ABN 38 166 816 736) builds websites for Australian small businesses. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We have written it in plain English rather than legal language, because you should be able to understand it without help.

Who we are

Web Design Lab is a sole trader business operating in Australia. You can reach us at info@webdesignlab.com.au.

What we collect

We only collect what we need in order to reply to you and do the work.

We do not collect payment card details. Card payments, if you choose that option, are handled entirely by our payment provider and we never see or store your card number.

Why we collect it

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to anyone for marketing.

We share it only where it is necessary to run the service:

Some of these providers store data outside Australia. We choose established providers with their own published privacy protections.

WhatsApp and phone

If you message us on WhatsApp, that conversation is carried and stored by WhatsApp under their own privacy terms, not ours. We keep our copy of the conversation the same way we keep emails.

How long we keep it

How we protect it

Your enquiry travels over an encrypted connection. Accounts holding your information are protected with strong, unique passwords and two factor authentication where the provider offers it. We keep the number of people with access to one, which is the person running this business.

No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a data breach ever happened that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would tell you and notify the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires.

Cookies

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. If we add website analytics later, we will update this policy first and say plainly what it does.

Your choices

You can ask us at any time to:

Email info@webdesignlab.com.au and we will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for asking.

Marketing and unsubscribing

If we email you about our services, every message will identify us, carry accurate contact details, and include a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe and we will act on it within 5 working days and not contact you again. That is what the Spam Act 2003 requires, and it is also just good manners.

A note on the Privacy Act

Businesses turning over $3 million or less a year are generally exempt from the Australian Privacy Principles. Web Design Lab currently sits under that threshold, so this policy is something we choose to follow rather than something we are compelled to follow.

We have written it anyway, and we intend to hold ourselves to it, because you are handing your details to a stranger on the internet and you deserve to know what happens to them.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your information, email us first and we will try to sort it out. If you are not satisfied with how we respond, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. For anything significant, we will tell existing clients directly rather than quietly editing the page.
